The Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center (BRACAC) is proud to announce it has been accepted as an Accredited Member of the National Children’s Alliance (NCA), joining over 450 other member programs across the United States. Children’s Advocacy Centers achieve this highest level of recognition following an extensive application and site review process to determine compliance with standards set by NCA. The Center hosted an Open House on Thursday, April 23, 2009 to recognize ten years of great leadership and vision by it Board Membership.   It was great to see and hear from everyone!  Click here for photo.
 
A BRACAC Open House Is Scheduled to Recognize 10 Years of Leadership of Board Membership –  Friday, April 10, 2009
The Center will host an Open House from 2:00 – 4:00 pm on Thursday, April 23, 2009 to recognize ten years of great leadership and vision by it Board Membership.  A brief program of recognition will begin at 2:30 pm and refreshments will be served.  The general public is welcome and invited to attend.

The 10th Anniversary Great Teddy Bear Run for the CAC is a huge success! – Saturday, April 4, 2009

This annual motorcycle parade helped raise more than $33,000 in sponsorships and contributions and collected 925 teddy bears this year.  Click here for more info and photos

BRACAC Searches for a new Development & Education Coordinator – January 16, 2009

The Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center seeks to fill its Development & Education Coordinator position to further the Center’s response and provision of quality services to victims of child sexual abuse and their non-offending family members living in the Barren River Area.  As a result, we are searching for the perfect team member who has the following minimum qualifications:

9th Annual Great Teddy Bear Run for the Child Advocacy Center on Saturday – April 5, 2008
With Harley Davidson Bowling Green as our new Grand Marshall Sponsor, the 9th Annual Great Teddy Bear Run for the CAC will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2008 this year.  This annual motorcycle parade and “run” helps our region officially kick-off April Child Abuse Awareness & Prevention Month, raise awareness of the crime of child sexual abuse in our community, and raise funds and resources to support the mission and service provision of the Center.  The Center completed its busiest year yet by providing services to 538 victims of child sexual abuse and 312 non-offending family and/or caregivers in FY2007  (Jul 06-Jun07), so we really need your help!  Please learn more about this important event at our Community Support section or call the Center at (270) 783-4357.   A link to the brochure is also available on the home page.

BRACAC confirms leadership and plans for 2008 – October 18, 2007
The Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center held its Annual Meeting and confirmed its new leadership for 2008 on Thursday, October 2007.  The Board celebrated the success of many projects in 2007, and under the direction of its new Board President, Rebecca Simpson of Bowling Green, Warren County, it renewed its commitment for continued growth and development in FY07 and FY08.

BRACAC begins providing forensic interviews services to ten counties – November 15, 2006
With the Center’s new forensic interviewer position filled in mid-September and the initial training series completed, the Center began providing structured forensic interviews for victims of child sexual abuse on November 13, 2006.  The Center will continue to host interviews conducted by law enforcement and child protection workers as well as work closely with the region’s multidisciplinary teams to provide child-friendly, fact-finding interviews for child victims whenever needed.  Click here for more information about this important service to children.
