Community Partners
It is the mission of the Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center to reduce trauma to child abuse victims by providing one safe, child-friendly location where teams of professionals work together to pursue justice and provide treatment.
The Center starts with the idea that no one agency or professional can prevent and treat the crime of child sexual abuse. Rather, it takes a multidisciplinary team of professionals in law enforcement, child protective services, medical, legal and mental health that work jointly to advocate for the rights of a child.
The
multidisciplinary teams are the cornerstone of a Child Advocacy Center, and
great work cannot be achieved for kids without a close working relationship
between the Center and its community partners.
The following is a list of the core agencies of the Multidisciplinary Teams
that work closely with the Center every day to respond, investigate, assess,
treat and prosecute the crime of child sexual abuse.

Reporting Concerns
of Abuse:
The law requires every citizen to report his or her concerns of abuse or neglect to a
child so that a professional can investigate if a child is being abused or is in
danger. Remember! The law does not require a concerned individual to have
“proof” – just concerns.
To report concerns of abuse or neglect:
·
Dial
911 if you believe a child is in immediate danger and needs help “right
now.”
·
Contact
your local law enforcement, the Kentucky State Police and/or your local
Department for Community Based Services listed above; or
·
Call
the Child Abuse Hotline at (800) 752-6200.
Responding
staff will ensure the report reaches local investigative authorities.
Please do
not wait to report your concerns.
A child’s safety may depend on the information you choose to share!
